Would you like to be more confident in talking to others about God? Do you want to share your faith, but feel like you don’t know enough or don’t know where to start? Do you feel like evangelism is too confrontational or inappropriate for our society? Do you regularly share Jesus but want to sharpen your skills? Then the Evangelism Workshop is for you!
At this workshop we will cover:
- what evangelism is and why the Christian ought to engage in it.
- what the gospel is and how to explain it clearly and concisely.
- how to engage people with the gospel in a winsome and inoffensive manner.
- how to use the various means of sharing the gospel that are at your disposal.
- how to deal with objections and obstacles to the gospel and conflict centered on the gospel.
We will start at 11am in the Piedmont Room of the Student Center (the windowed room across from Burdell’s and Pandini’s). We’ll break at noon for lunch, which will be either Chick-fil-A or Willy’s (we’ll take orders at the beginning and make a lunch run for you). We should wrap everything up by 2:30pm.
Here’s the workshop outline:
1. Context: What does the Bible teach and command concerning evangelism? Why should I evangelize? What is my role in evangelism?
2. Content: What collection of facts makes up the gospel?
3. Manner: How do I go about sharing the gospel in a compelling and inoffensive way?
4. Means: What tools and methods can I use to aid in sharing the gospel?
5. Persuasion: How do I communicate the gospel convincingly? How do I deal with objections to the gospel? How do I share with agnostics, atheists, and those who follow other religions? How do I deal with conflict during evangelism?
Outline and printed notes will be provided. We recommend you bring a pen or pencil, a 3-ring binder for the printed materials, a notebook or notebook paper, and cash for lunch. (The workshop itself and provided materials are free.)
